This mag. -9 sporadic meteor event was recorded over the Mediterranean Sea on 17 July 2018 at 4:20 local time (2:20 universal time). The event was produced by a meteoroid following an asteroid-like orbit that hit the atmosphere at about 54000 km/h. The fireball began at an altitude of around 91 km over the sea, and ended at a height of about 31 km. The fireball was recorded by the meteor observing stations operating in the framework of the SMART Project (University of Huelva) from the astronomical observatories of Calar Alto (Almería), Sierra Nevada (Granada) and Sevilla.
