1 Introduction

In the 1960ies and 1970ies the International Astronomical Union organized symposia and colloquia dedicated to minor bodies in the solar system mainly minor planets and comets, with a small contribution about meteors. In 1983, 1985 and 1989 conferences dedicated to small Solar System bodies, “Asteroids, Comets, Meteors” were organized in Uppsala, Sweden. In 1991 the “Asteroids, Comets, Meteors” conference series moved to Flagstaff, USA, having no meteor related conference in Europe for professionals in several years. With most meteor scientists at work in Europe, the idea was born to organize a conference completely dedicated to meteoroids. Astronomers of the Astronomical Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences decided to organize a conference in Slovakia in honor of Ľubor Kresák for his 65th birthdate. This conference took place in 1992, July 6–12 at Smolenice Castle, Slovakia. Although the conference was not intended to start a new series of such conferences, the success of Meteoroids 1992 proved that there was need for such conference. The next Meteoroids conferences took place in 1994 and 1998 in Slovakia followed by meetings in Sweden, Canada, Spain, USA, Poland and the Netherlands.

Meanwhile the Meteoroids conference series will celebrate its 10th meeting returning to Slovakia, where it all started.

Meteoroids is a meeting for professional scientists and also of interest to experienced amateurs. Except the lectures and poster sessions, the conference offers plenty of opportunity to have informal discussions about various meteor related topics. Most leading meteor scientists are present. In 1992 for instance about all senior scientists of that time who served as IAU commission 22 Chairmen were present (Figure 1).

For people who may be interested, I share the second announcement for Meteoroids 2019.

Meteoroids 2019 will be the tenth international conference in a series of meetings on meteors, meteoroids, meteorites, interplanetary dust, and related topics, which have been held since 1992.
The Meteoroids 2019 will take place at the Hotel Tatra in Bratislava, Slovakia, from June 17 – 21, 2019, starting by welcome party on Sunday evening June 16, 2019 in Hotel Tatra.

More detailed information will be provided in next circulars or on the web page of the conference: http://meteoroids2019.uniba.sk.

The SOC defined the following sessions:
1. Meteoroid Sources
2. Composition and Physical Properties
3. Dynamical Evolution
