A fireball with an absolute magnitude of about 9+-1 was spotted over the south of Spain on 2021 January 29, at 1:19:33 local time (equivalent to 0:19:53 UT). Radiant and orbital calculations revealed that it was generated by a meteoroid from the rho-Geminids that hit the atmosphere at about 83,000 km/h. The bolide began over the north of the province of Granada (Andalusia) at an altitude of about 98 km, and ended at a height of around 34 km. It was recorded in the framework of the SMART project from the meteor-observing stations located at the astronomical observatories of La Hita (Toledo), Calar Alto (Almeria), La Sagra (Granada), Sierra Nevada (Granada), and Sevilla. SMART is being conducted from the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA-CSIC) by the Southwestern Europe Meteor Network (SWEMN).
